+ FEATURES Your Own Domain Hosting After you register a domain, you can make your website active on the Internet by getting your site hosted by ADcipta.net (e.g. yourdomain.com) Disk Storage Space Disk storage space refers to the amount of server disk storage specifically allocated to your account. This space is used to store your html files, graphics, audio clips, POP3 mail messages, pdfs, and other files that make up your web site. Each of our plans includes a very generous amount of space which is substantially more than what most web hosting companies provide. Monthly Data Transfer Monthly data transfer is the amount of information that is transmitted to/from your Web space. Each time a picture or HTML page is viewed by a visitor, you upload data using FTP, or email is received it adds to your monthly data transfer. The average HIT is approximately 10k. This would mean that a transfer limit of 4.0 Gigabytes would allow 400,000 hits. You can monitor your monthly transfer in your control panel. *A note on Unlimited Transfer offerings* Numerous people have asked us why we don't offer unlimited bandwidth? The answer is simple. The numerous providers who say they offer unlimited bandwidth are actually telling you a false statement. If you read the fine print, "Unlimited bandwidth means you may not use more then 10% of our resources". This usually means they cut you off at 50 megabytes per day. We will not cut you off due to extra usage. Unmetered Hits We do not track or restrict the number of visitors accessing your website or the number of pages that are viewed. OS Platform Our automated systems are Linux-based which is known around the world for it's stability and scalability. Being the most used platform on the Internet today, it suits the needs of both beginner and advanced web hosts. POP3 E-mail Accounts In addition to email forwarding, users have the option to retrieve email directly from their POP3 mailboxes on the mail server using an email program such as Eudora, Microsoft Outlook or web based email. POP3 email accounts are accounts that you setup using your domain name i.e. sales@yourdomain.com or me@yourdomain.com. You can manage your POP3 email accounts easily from your control panel. Email Auto Responders Auto responders are a very useful tool for distributing information to interested prospects. An auto responder is simply a program which instantly sends a pre-written message back to a person who sends an e-mail to a specified address. For instance, if a customer were to send an email order to orders@yourdomain.com, you could arrange for a Thank You email to be automatically sent to them. Email Forwarders E-mail forwarders are accounts which simply forward e-mail to a pre-designated e-mail address. E-mail sent to separate POP3 mail accounts end up in a single location. Email Forwarders can easily be removed/added via our control panel. Email Alias An email alias is basically another name of your email account. It allows you to create alternative email addresses without creating a user account. What an alias does is to point to a specific email addrss. For example, you can have an alias called "help" and forward it to maindesk@yourdomain.com. However, you won't be able to send emails from an alias, because it is not a real email account.. Web-based Email Access (Webmail) In addition to your POP3 email accounts, you'll have web based mail that allows you to access your email accounts from any browser, anywhere in the world. This is a nice feature for someone who travels or needs access to email at different locations. Email Manager/Mail Management Tools We give you powerful tools to manage your email activities. From creating POP accounts to managing huge mailing lists, it's all easy with our online control panel. Using our mail management tools you can: Manage POP e-mail boxes Manage E-mail aliases (forwarders) Manage Auto-responders Change your default mail address Create SPAM filters Manage mailing lists. Sub-domains Sub-domains allow for the use of URLs like subdomain.yourdomain.com. This feature is useful if you want to divide up your site into different sections. The document root for your sub-domain will be the subdirectory that has the same name as your sub-domain prefix. For example: http://example.yourdomain.com is the same as http://yourdomain.com/example/. You can easily add/remove sub-domains from the control panel. Domain Pointers (URL Forwarding) This is a domain name that redirects a visitor to another Web location of your choice, allowing you to have multiple domain names for one site, such as www.yourdomain.com and www.yourdomain.net. Unlimited FTP Access FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol and is the most acceptable method for transferring files from client to server. All of our packages include unlimited access to your account via FTP 24 hours a day. This way you can update your site whenever you want, giving you full control. Anonymous FTP Server Anonymous FTP allows clients to take advantage of the FTP protocol for visitors to their website needing to download large files without a login or password for each visitor. Anonymous FTP can be installed and uninstalled automatically. Clients login to your anonymous FTP site by FTPing to ftp.yourdomain.com. The login "anonymous" or "ftp" will work, and any password is accepted. Once they have logged in anonymously, they will automatically view the welcome message which you can customize. Users can then download any files which you have made available for them to obtain anonymously. Interchange Shopping Cart A Shopping Cart program allows you to implement your own on-line storefront. The shopping cart keeps track of what visitors have ordered and allows them to add or remove items from a ''virtual shopping cart.'' When a visitor decides to check-out, the order information including the buyer's name, address and billing instruction is e-mailed to an address you specify and a receipt is sent to the shopper. All accounts come bundled with RedHat's high-end and powerful Interchange shopping cart, an electronic commerce system that's in use by tens of thousands of merchants and web developer's world wide. SSL Server (SSL) Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is a protocol which encrypts all data communicated between client/server to ensure there can be no intercepts of the data by third parties and ensures that communication is between the intended party. Encryption is very important when taking credit card numbers, or posting personal or confidential information over the Internet. Although it's way more likely for someone to steal your credit card number when you order over the telephone, we still offer you full, unlimited access to our secure server. By using our server's certificate, you save hundreds of dollars! We also offer the option to install your own personalized SSL Certificate. Own CGI-Bin Access All customers have access to a personal cgi-local directory in which you can place your own custom CGI scripts. CGI scripts are often used to accomplish tasks which are not supported by basic HTML, such as a "hit" counter or guest book. This directory can be used to set up scripts that you write or find elsewhere on the Web. The File Manager Your File Manager is a very powerful feature. It allows you to manipulate all the files in your web site. You are able to create, delete, and move your files. You can also upload files from your local PC to the server in File Manager. Plus, you can edit the HTML in any of your files from this option. Everything you need to manage your site can be found in this feature. FrontPage 2000/2 Extensions We can install Front Page extensions on your account free of charge. This allows you to use the easy-to-use Microsoft FrontPage program to create and maintain your web site. The FrontPage 2002 extensions are fully backward compatible with FrontPage 2000, 97 & 98 incase you're not yet using the latest version. You may request that FrontPage extensions be installed on your web site when placing an order for our hosting services. Detailed Web Statistics How many visitors have you had? Where are they coming from? Through your web-based control panel, you can check the statistics on your site by day, month, or year. All hosting packages come with 4 statistic reporting tools, they include: Webalizer™ provides detailed information on your website visitors including Daily Statistics, Hourly Statistics, URLs, Entry Points, Exit Points, Referrers, Search Data, Browser Agents and Country data. Analog Statistics - a raw, fast, text-based statistics read-out, unlike the graphical Webalizer. It gives you in-depth stats when you need them and fast. Last 300 Visitors - This fast and neat program will show you up to 300 of your latest visitors, along with useful information about each one of them. Error Log - This useful tool shows up to 300 of the last error messages received by visitors to your site, from broken links and images, to "server error" pages and 404 errors. Macromedia Shockwave & Flash Support Macromedia Shockwave is a form of animation created using Macromedia Director. With the program you can create complex and interesting animations. Flash is a similar product that works across the web. Your Macromedia Shockwave & Flash creations are supported by your new hosting account. PHP with Caching PHP is an advanced server side scripting language that can be embedded into HTML, eliminating the need for a CGI-Bin directory and separate executable files. PHP is similar in syntax to JavaScript, and does not require optional components to perform advanced tasks, as does ASP. PHP scripts can be placed in any directory within your domain and can connect to a database. We are running the latest version of PHP4 and install the best caching engines to speed up script execution and page loads across all our servers. Perl Perl is an interpreted language optimized for scanning arbitrary text files, extracting information from those text files, and printing reports based on that information. It's a derivation from C programming language and to a lesser extent from sed, awk, the Unix shell, and at least a dozen other tools and languages. Perl's process, file, and text manipulation facilities make it particularly well-suited for tasks involving quick prototyping, system utilities, software tools, system management tasks, database access, graphical programming, networking, and world wide web programming. Perl Modules & Installs Perl is arguably the most popular scripting language for the web and consequently, there are hundreds if not thousands of modules that have been written to work with it. If you are using scripts that require specific perl modules not included in the default perl distribution, we will install it free of charge for you. Our servers are always updated with the most popular perl modules. Server Side Includes You can use server-side include (SSI) directives to include text, graphics, or application information into a Web page just before sending content to the browser. SSI can be used to include, for example, a time/date stamp, a copyright notice, or a form for a customer to fill out and return. Including a file is an easy way to incorporate text or graphics that is repeated in many files. Rather than typing the information into every file, you use a simple statement that instructs the Web server to insert the file. Pre-Installed CGI Scripts Adding interactivity to your website is easy with your preinstalled cgi scripts that allow you to add forms, counters and even a site search engine without any previous programming experience. Setup is easy through your control panel. Free Java Chatroom All accounts come bundled with a Web-Based Java Chatroom. The robust chat application is written entirely in Java and allows you to setup an Internet chatroom for your users. The program supports an unlimited number of users in as many rooms as you wish to create. Visitors in the room can create chat rooms on the fly, and a scroll protection feature prevents people from abusive usage. Private message support and customizable login, logout messages, and interface customization supported. MX Record Changes Your hosting account's MX record specifies how mail addressed to your domain is to be handled. By default, such mail is handled by our mail servers and distributed according to your Email Settings. Some users may wish to have mail handled by a remote mail server (e.g. Everyone.net). In such instances, the MX record can be changed such that all mail addressed to your domain is redirected to the remote server. This service is exclusive and free to all customers. WWW and Non-WWW Access A non-WWW domain name means that your Web site will appear in Web browsers whether someone types "www.mydomain.com" or "just "mydomain.com". In other words, users can omit "www" and just type your domain name and they will get to your site. This often increases traffic to your site, by giving you a second (and more simplified) domain name—with no extra InterNIC charges. Your regular domain name - www.mydomain.com - will not be changed and still functions normally. MySQL Database MySQL is a relational database management system. The same statement is true of large systems such as Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server. If you are looking to step up from using Microsoft Access files, but aren't ready for the financial investment of one of the big two databases, then MySQL offers you a great middle ground. Many companies and individuals have started using MySQL for the development of their web projects and then never switched over to one of the larger databases because MySQL performed well enough that an upgrade was never needed. In fact, benchmarks on the MySQL web site show that MySQL outperforms SQL Server on just about every possible test. phpMyAdmin This program is used to manage your MySQL database over the web. It allows you to create and drop databases, create, copy, drop and alter tables, delete, edit and add fields, execute any SQL-statement, even batch-queries, manage keys on fields, load text files into tables, create and read dumps of tables, export data to CSV values, administer multiple servers and single databases. Sendmail Support Sendmail is the most common SMTP mail transfer agent on the thousands of mostly UNIX-based Internet hosts that handle mail routing and serve as post offices. Millions of e-mail messages are handled by Sendmail every day. SPAM Filter System The SPAM filter system allows you to set mail filters to keep mail with certain characteristics from getting through to your mail accounts. "Catch All" Email A catch-all mailbox is a default mailbox that receives all messages addressed to nonexistent or discontinued mailboxes. For example, if a message is sent to infocenter@myname.com instead of info@myname.com, you would still receive that message. This feature ensures that no incoming message will be rejected by the mail server for your domain. If there is only one person responsible for receiving mail, this feature can also eliminate the need for setting up different aliases, as this mailbox would automatically receive mail for any nonexistent mailbox within your domain. Your E-mail SMTP Server (mail.yourdomain.com) Your outgoing email server, or SMTP server, is designated as smtp.yourdomain.com. This is compatible with Netscape's built-in email program, as well as Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora, and basically any other mail program. Each virtual server has one outgoing mail server. Mailing List Manager The Mailing List Manager is an easy to use interface to the Majordomo mailing list program. Through the Mailing List Manager, you can perform the following functions: Create new mailing lists Administer existing mailing lists Allow people to subscribe and unsubscribe to your mailing lists Send messages to your mailing lists Allow other users to send messages to your mailing lists Note: Mailing lists are restricted to text messages only for up to 1000 subscribers. PGP Encrypted Email This feature allows users to encrypt files and email messages for privacy and authentication. With PGP, you can prove that you, and only you, sent a certain mail message, or that only you can read a certain message. Customizable MIME types Advanced users can set MIME Type settings for your domain. Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (MIME) Types are a standard for describing different types of information. Originally meant to specify encoding for different types of information into text to send as email. The standard MIME is also used in other types of communication. Custom 404 Error Pages It's a known fact that someone is going to run into an error on your site at one time or another! Why not give them a way back to your site instead of that boring 404 error page? Using your advanced control panel system you can do just that. The error page will be fully configurable and should be setup just like any other page on your Web Site. Password Protected Directories Choose who can view parts of your web site by password protecting your directories. Any number of directories can be password protected using .htaccess and .htpasswd files. Directories can be password protected without hassle within seconds from your control panel. Access to Raw Log Files You can download raw logs of your website activity to keep as a backup or analyze with your favorite off-line statistics program. Referrer, Agent and Raw Logs are accessible via your control panel. Resource Meter The Resource Meter provides a detailed view of your usage levels. It shows how much disk space, data transfer, e-mail accounts, and mailing lists you have used on your shared hosting account. Crontabs/job Cron is the ability to run programs based on the system clock. A crontab/job is a scheduled task that you want to automatically run at a scheduled time, e.g. run my backup at 8:30pm everyday. We allow you to run one cronjob a day. You can easily set them up via the control panel. SSH Telnet Access Telnet/SSH access allows clients to take advantage of easy maintenance of their sites in a UNIX shell. Clients are able to roam through their sites, change permissions, move files, delete files, and debug scripts. Compiling programs is also possible. Telnet access also allows for manipulation of mySQL databases. All accounts come with one shell account. SSH, or Secure Shell, is very similar to Telnet only that the login and password information (authentication) is encrypted from client to sever, making transmission of data more secure. Network Troubleshooter & Tools Through your Virtual Control Panel, you can use various network tools to diagnose network problems. If you ever notice delays reaching your virtual server, you can use this tool simply by selecting the option from your Control Panel. This provides you with details on the connection between your local ISP and your virtual server and can help troubleshoot where the problem may be. 24/7 Server and Network Monitoring All servers on our network are monitored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our automatic monitoring software continuously tests all ports such as e-mail, HTTP, Telnet, DNS, and FTP for failure, and instantly notifies our techs in the event any problems are discovered. Our techs are then immediately dispatched to the troubled server to correct the problem. UPS and Generator Backup Each server and piece of hardware in our network is connected to a battery backup unit to prevent servers from being rebooted or even damaged in the likely case of a power surge or brown out. In addition, we have emergency generators standing by that could carry our network for days in an unlikely case of a long term power failure. Daily tape back-ups While we always strongly recommend our hosting clients to backup their Web site locally using the self service tools, we archive and backup your files at our data center "just in case". Archive Manager/Self Serve Backup/Restore tools Backing up your entire website including mailboxes and databases is easy with our instant online backup facility. Unlimited backups can be taken and stored on the server or your local hard drive and instantly restored at any time via your Web Control Panel. Web Server Software Apache is the king of Web servers despite intense efforts by Microsoft and Netscape to gain dominance in the market. In fact, the latest Netcraft surveys indicate that the freeware Apache is widening its lead over the rest of the field.
